Volunteer with Shrewsbury Dial-a-Ride

Minibus Drivers: we have 6 buses and can only keep them on the road if we have drivers. We can be very flexible about shifts and the people who do it, love it!
Passenger Assistants: we are always looking for more passenger assistants (PAs) - our ideal situation is for every bus to have a PA.
Car Drivers: we run a local community car scheme in Shrewsbury and are keen to find more drivers. You drive your own car - typically taking people to medical / hospital appointments. You receive expenses of 45p per mile and you don't need to make any alterations to your insurance.

Looking for a way to give back to the local community around Shrewsbury? At Shrewsbury Dial-a-Ride we welcome anyone looking to help our team with assisted community based transport. Our volunteers are the public face of our dial-a-ride service, they perform a key customer service function, providing the support needed by the community. In fact it is our volunteers that give Shrewsbury Dial-a-Ride its reputation for great customer service.

We pay expenses to help volunteers get to and from our office base on Featherbed Lane in Shrewsbury.

DBS Checks
All our volunteers and staff are checked through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to ensure the highest standards of safety for our passengers.

MiDAS driver training
MiDAS is the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme, organised by the Community Transport Association (CTA) which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers.
MiDAS provides both classroom-based theory training and an on-road driving assessment for all minibus drivers, and additional passenger assistance training and the use of wheelchair accessible vehicles, for drivers who will be transporting passengers with disabilities.

Passenger Assistance Training (PATS)
PATS provides a nationally recognised standard of training to people whose role it is to provide care and assistance to passengers travelling with us.
"We are very happy with the service, especially the volunteers."
